Our Monthly Guide to Getting the Best Deals at the Best Times – What to Buy in November
What Should I Buy When?
Our Monthly Guide to Getting the Best Deals at the Best Times
November is here! It’s the start of the holiday season, a time for giving thanks to our veterans, for remembering all of our blessings, and for spending time with our loved ones. As we said last month, Fall is a favorite season of ours. It’s a great time to enjoy the cooler weather and all the colors of the beautiful Smokies. During November, there is Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving Day. We also have other days to look forward to: Clean Your Refrigerator Day is November 15th, Take a Hike Day is November 17th, and who could forget Black Friday! So, let’s get to the deals!
November
PJs and slippers
These are very popular gift items, and retailers put them on sale early in an effort to entice shoppers to kick-start their holiday shopping. Separates are on sale now, too, but the real deals are to be found with the packages sets. You can expect to save up to 50% right now.
Frozen turkeys
Of course, this is a no-brainer! Turkeys fly off the shelves this time of year. Retailers do not want any left-overs, so they will mark them down now in the hopes that you’ll stock up for later.
RVs
This is the best time to buy both new and used RVs. The weather has cooled, and there are fewer people looking to buy RVs now. Dealers are hoping to increase their cash flow and move out older inventory, and they will be happy to make you a good deal now. Of course, you will be faced with winterizing or storing your RV, but your savings will still offset that cost.
Toys
Many retailers begin slashing prices as early as October, so now is a good time to find some nice deals for the kids or grandkids for Christmas. Or, perhaps you have just moved in to your new log home and just want to keep some toys around for when your grandchildren come to visit. This is a great time to stock up.
Kitchen accessories
The holidays are coming, and so is all the holiday cooking and baking. All of a sudden, you’ve decided you can’t live without that 3-in-1 coffee/cappuccino/frappe machine you saw the other day. November is a great time to buy small kitchen accessories to make your holiday cooking a little easier. While you’re at it, maybe you could pick up an extra something to give as a Christmas gift, too.
Cookware and bakeware
Just as with the kitchen accessories, November is a good month to update any old pots, pans, muffin times, or Dutch ovens you may need for your holiday cooking and baking. Retailers have marked these items down just in time for the holidays, so you could easily save 30% or more right now.
Flatware and cutlery sets
Retailers know you want to make a good impression on holiday dinner guests. Whether you’re buying for yourself or as a gift, you will find deep discounts on flatware and cutlery sets this month. The new patterns are already out, so you’ll look fashionable as well as cost-conscious.
Dining room furniture
With so many of our holiday gatherings centered around meals, retailers naturally take this opportunity to offer sales on dining room furniture. Look for Veterans Day sales, especially, when you can often find retailers willing to give you free “extras,” such as a china cabinet or extra chairs, when you buy an entire set.
Computers, Blu-ray players, and small electronics
Retailers always offer holiday deep discounts on computers, Blu-rays, and small electronics , beginning around Veterans Day. So, if someone on your list is asking for an iPad, laptop, Blu-rays player, digital camera, or MP3 player, start shopping now while prices are low and supply is still high.
TVs
What is Thanksgiving without gathering the family around the TV to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, some football, and all the holiday specials? If you’ve been considering a new TV, whether it’s a flat screen, plasma, or high-def., you will definitely find some good deals right now. If you’re willing to purchase “open box” models, your discount will be even deeper.
Air conditioners
The weather is getting colder, and most people don’t think about replacing their old air conditioning units right now. Retailers know this, and are willing to offer significant price incentives to entice buyers into their stores. They need the cash flow now; you will need the air conditioner next Spring. It’s a win-win.
As you can see, it’s a savings feast during the month of November! We hope you’ve seen something on our list that has appealed to you. Before we sign off, we wish to sincerely thank our service men and women, both past and present, for their many sacrifices all year through. We don’t say it often enough, but THANK YOU!
From all of us here at Custom Timber, Happy Thanksgiving to you and to all of our valued customers. Until next time, happy shopping, and have a great month!
