What Should I Buy When – What to buy in June

gym-membership-juneOur Monthly Guide to Getting the Best Deals at the Best Times

Summer is well on its way!  The kids are out of school and vacations are in full swing.  This is the month of Father’s Day, Best Friends Day, and (of particular importance to us at CTLH) Log Cabin Day.  With wedding season in full bloom, June is a good month for sales, especially toward the end of the month, when Fourth of July sales take effect.  Read on to find out of now is the time to buy the things on your list.

What to buy in June

Swimwear

If your log home is situated near the lake, or if your family enjoys using your neighborhood pool, now is a good time to buy some swimwear.  While consumers are just now gearing up for some fun in the sun, retailers are already looking to fall.  You will find some good discounts on all water apparel this month.

Summer sports gear

As with swimwear, June is a great time of year to stock up on life vests, paddles, baseball equipment, and hiking gear.  Plus, since the first week of June is National Fishing Week, fishing tackle will be marked down, too.

Patio furniture

Now is the time to spruce up your deck with some beautiful new patio furniture.  Outdoor furniture will be on sale throughout the month of June, with the biggest discounts at the first (Memorial Day sales) and last (Fourth of July sales) of the month.  If you’ve been waiting to purchase outdoor furniture for your new log home, wait no longer!

Gym memberships

Remember those New Year’s resolutions you made way back in January?  Neither do we!  But, gyms are hoping to take advantage of last-minute, gotta-get-in-my-bikini gym goers this month by offering deep monthly discounts and greatly reduced (or even eliminated) sign-up fees.  If you’ve been considering joining a gym, now is a good time to take a look at what your local fitness center has to offer.

Dishware and china

If your favorite new bride or groom is getting married soon, June is a good month to find discounts on both everyday dishes and fine china.  You may even find some dinnerware marked down as much as 50%.  Perhaps this would be a good time to add a few pieces to your own collection, too.

Champagne

Whether you’re toasting a new couple or celebrating the successful completion of your beautiful new log home, you’ll be able to find champagne at a discount this month.  Even if you aren’t planning any special celebrations, now would be a good time to stock up on champagne for the upcoming holidays and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

 Home appliances

If you are in the market for a new refrigerator, washer, or oven, you will be able to find some really good deals.  However, if you’re able, wait until the end of the month to make your purchases.  Independence Day sales will offer you deep discounts on any home appliance you’ve been looking for.

Paint

Many consumers use the summer months to do repairs and renovations on their homes.  That’s why June is a great time to purchase both indoor and outdoor paint and painting supplies.  Even if your project is not due to begin for a few more months, now would be a great time to stock up on the paint and supplies you know you’ll need in the future.

 Father’s Day gifts

Father’s Day is on June 15th this year.  Retailers know what makes dads happy, and they are more than willing to accommodate consumers by offering discounts on everything from men’s suits to small electronics.  If you’ve been trying to decide what to get your deal old dad this year, here are just a few of the items you’ll find on sale this month:

•Tools

•Hardware

•Recliners

•TVs

•Small electronics (camcorders, tablets, etc.)

•Suits

•Ties

•Golfing equipment

That just about sums up what’s on sale in June.  As usual, you can find some great deals this month, if you are willing to do your homework.  Come back in July for the next installment of “What Should I Buy When?”  From all of us here at CTLH, happy shopping and happy summer!
